Real and unreal

A brief look at the nature of that which is real and unreal.
Every where I look I see the illusion of hierarchy playing out. I see it playing out within my own psyche. I see it playing out within organisations, religions, spiritual paths, institutions, families, and within society as a whole.
I see it in myself and when I feel into it the number one feeling I get is one of separation. Deep seated separation.
Oneness can only ever be a nice intellectual concept so long as that separation is there.
I remember two teachers I had. Part of the medicine they gave me was to uncover and heal that place in me that wanted to adhere to hierarchy and spiritual superiority. In my experience these two teachers were hooked into this type of mentality and soul disposition and I aligned with that to the degree that I was willing to accommodate that kind of mentality within myself. Part of completing with them was completing with this sort of mentality within myself. Important medicine.
If hierarchy is an illusionary trap then what is real in this regard?
What is real, in my experience, is that we are all equal. Creation and everything in creation was created equally. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you or I can’t learn from someone else. Not at all. Just as the cells in a body are in constant communication with each other, and are teaching each other about incoming pathogens (through the communication mechanism of antibodies) etc. everything in the macrocosm is also communicating in this way. If one group of cells in a body attempted to be more important and superior to another group of cells then havoc would break out. Cancer is much like a group of cells deciding that they aren’t going to listen to the rest of the body any more. They will feed off what the body provides you arrogantly consider themselves devoid of the necessity to cooperate with the rest of the body, and may eventually destroy the body as a whole. Some people might say that the brain is at the top of a perceived body hierarchy because we think that the brain is controlling everything else. Yet this is simply not true. Cell throughout the body have the capacity to produce chemicals that equate to thinking and emotions. The body is in unity. When it comes out of unity it goes into disease.
The only other point I feel to make right now is to emphasise the importance of exploring the those dark places inside where you feel higher than / better than / superior to other people—where you feel above the rest of the world. Physically above, mentally above, and most insidiously spiritually above others. I don’t wish to imply that you can’t recognise your strengths and the gifts God has imbued you with. No, not at all. Rather I wish to suggest that in recognising these attributes you come to a place of gratitude (great-attitude) and humbly (with a deep inner smile) recognise that these gifts are not unique to you, nor are they personal to you—but how you use them and what you do with them is over to you. That’s the responsibility that comes with each gift.

Life as medicine is something that has been brewing away in my awareness for some years now, and I’d like to share what I understand in this regard.
I am sure the Native people of America have a far clearer and deeper understanding of this than I do, yet I feel I have enough of my own appreciation of it that sharing it is worth while. I have not actually read anything on this—although I’d very much like to—so I can not really say how my view of ‘life as medicine’ compares with the Native American perspective on this—such as that held by the Hopi or the Lakota, of the Gogi, for instance.
So, what do I mean by “Life as medicine” ?
What I am referring to actually comes back to something else I have written about—that “Everything is happening for you and not to you”.
Everything that is happening for you is essentially medicine. I’ve just taken a look at what dictionary.com has to say about the word “medicine” and have been pleasantly surprised, for it actually makes reference to the Native American use of the word. Cool.
Let’s take a look:
- Something that serves as a remedy or corrective: medicine for rebuilding the economy; measures that were harsh medicine.
- Shamanistic practices or beliefs, especially among Native Americans.
- Something, such as a ritual practice or sacred object, believed to control natural or supernatural powers or serve as a preventive or remedy.1. (a) Among the North American Indians, any object supposed to give control over natural or magical forces, to act as a protective charm, or to cause healing; also, magical power itself; the potency which a charm, token, or rite is supposed to exert.
The North American Indian boy usually took as his medicine the first animal of which he dreamed during the long and solitary fast that he observed at puberty. –F. H. Giddings.
So the meaning I am associating with the word “medicine” is “something that brings about healing or provides remedy to dis-ease”. I don’t limit the word dis-ease to physical ailment, but rather I see that it includes all ways in which a person is not-at-ease. Not at ease with them self, with life, with their body, etc.
What I wish to impress upon your mind is that everything in life is happening FOR you and that it is medicine—it comes to you as medicine to remedy disease… or an absence of health. Health is “the wholeness or soundness of body, mind, and soul”.
The people, the family members, the events, the situations, the accidents, the coincidences, the pain, etc. is all a form of medicine—perfectly orchestrated into your life to remedy that which is in a place of un-wholeness, disparity, and dis-ease.
To really get into the feeling of what I’ve just said, it is necessary—I think—to absolutely let go of being a victim. Victimitis is a dangerous plague that has passed through the human psyche and is pandemic all over the world. In fact much of the world as we know it is the product of and heavily relies upon Victimitis. I have not met many people that are not engaged in a victim mentality at some level. I watch how victim mentality crops up within me, and I’ve found that it gets more and more subtle and slippery the deeper I go within.
To make this concept of some practical use I’d like to suggest that as often as you can remember—and each morning set the intention to remember—when things come up in your day to day life that you are struggling with pass through the following steps in some way:
I suspect you will find that the medicine will make itself known—one way or another—when you going through a process something like the one I have just outlined.
That’s all I wish to write on this for now.
With love and blessings,
Jonathan
Well, I just saw an interesting movie. “I, Robot”, based on an Issak Asimov book (I hope that spelling is close enough for you !!).
If you have not already done so, then I recommend you see it.
What I’d like to shed some light on is the close parallels I see in the theme of this movie and some of the themes that are playing out in the collective human “story” at this time. In my experience this movie closely relates to things that are playing out in the world which many are perhaps not all that aware of.
We know from bio-resonance that water retains information. Your body is mostly water, so it is a library, not just of your physical condition but of your mind and your soul. Pictured here are photos of frozen water crystals taken by Prof. Masaru Emoto. These photos and many others are in his magnificent book about resonance called, Messages from Water.
I get the distinct impression that within the collective Dream there is really not a lot of time left. As far as time goes, the part in the script where “the shit hits the fan” and those who are ready to move on do so and those who believe themselves to be deeply stuck in darkness dissappear down that hole, is getting very near.
I’ve been aware of this break point since I was a child. I’ve been patiently waiting. Sometimes not so patiently. I remember counting up the years and figuring out how old I might likely be when “the world ends”.
There are many talking about the end of the world—and that kind of talk is nothing new. There’s hardly been a time in history where someone hasn’t been referring to the “end of the world”, to “judgement day”, “armagadon” etc. It’s possible I’m just another one of these people stirring things up with the idea that we have very little time left. It’s possible. You’ll have to be the one to decide what’s what. I only share that which I feel is of significance to the people I am sharing it with. My purpose is sharing what I do is to arouse awareness, not to generate fear.
All I know is that I get the distinct impression that the “world” (as created by human kind, as opposed to the Earth itself) is collapsing rapidly. There is also a large awakening taking place. People are now aware of things that I simply couldn’t talk about in my youth. When I did I’d find myself facd with anger and antagonism. People felt judged by me—yet I was simply talking about what I saw within society… nothing specifically about the person I was talking to. Now days, I can sit back and listen to other’s telling me these things. That shift has really taken place in a big way just in the last couple of years—as far as I can tell.
When I relate to “the end of the world” I don’t see this as some kind of doom and gloom scenario where the world will blow up or life on earth will be eradicated by some massive asteroid . That’s not how I see it at all.
Rather, what I see is that the collective ego-mind will split off into two or more Stories. One of these stories will be the darkest possible manifestation of all the life-taking bullshit anyone can these days look around the world situation and see. The other Story will be one of Heaven on Earth. Whether we all end up on two different planets or whether those creating heaven on Earth simply moved into a parallel reality—I can’t yet say.
What I do feel strongly is that there is not long to go, as far as time is concerned.
I invite you to take heed of this timing. How much longer will you wait and sit on the fence? How much longer will you keep telling yourself you’re not ready to step into your role as a presence of Light in the world? How much longer will you hang onto the idea that you still have heaps of stuff to heal before you’re ready to get on with the show?
Ask yourself these things and make some conscious decisions.
The perfect time is Now.
With love,
Jonathan
A couple of weeks ago a newly aquainted friend asked me what it means to be a spiritual warrior.
This was the first time I’d been asked that question and likewise it was the first time I’d attempted to define it. I have given it some further thought since then and shall define what it means to me—in the hope that it might inspire the Warrior within you.
